Alexiades, C. A. and Jackson, M. L. (1966) Quantitative clay mineralogical analysis of soils and sediments: Clays

چکیده
to be quite compatible with the original analytical scheme. Incidentally, El-Attar and Jackson (1973) have observed considerable thermal decomposition at 550~ of Fe-rich layers and/or interlayers in montmorillonitic soils of Nile River alluvium. Additional information that can be deduced from the above procedure is the CEC and K § -fixation capacity of the amorphous constituents of the clays provided these values are determined for the original clays also. The present modification avoids the assignment of arbitrary, possibly erroneous, values of CEC and K+-fixation capacity values to the amorphous inorganic constituents of soil clays.

Simultaneous Mineralogical Quantification and Chemical Characterization of Soil Clays
-A new chemical mass balance technique has been developed for simultaneous mineralogical quantification and chemical characterization of soil clays. The procedure includes separation of the whole clay (<2 ~tm fraction) into six particle size fractions (<0.02, <0.06, <0.2, 0.02-0.06, 0.06-0.2, and 0.22 um fractions), chemical analysis of the whole clay and each of the six fractions, and fitting ...

Potassium fixation and release by phillosilicate clay minerals in soils are very important processes influencing the availability of K to plants. This investigation was conducted to determine the potassium fixation capacity and charge characteristics of soil clays of 15 surface soils (0-30 cm) from central and northern Iran. After clay particle separation, both total and tetrahedral cation exch...
متن کاملOxygen Isotope Changes during Mica Alteration
-Oxygen isotope analyses (bOtg) of micas that were artificially depleted in K* indicate little or no isotope exchange during the transformation. The oxidation of iron in K-depleted, iron-rich micas by H202 treatment resulted in 1.6 to 4.6~ decrease in ~O ~8 due to the fact that the equilibrium fracfionation factor is less than the initial difference between the starting 50 ~s of the fluid and m...
متن کاملThe origin and formation of clay minerals in soils" past, present and future perspectives
It has long been recognized that the minerals in the clay (<2 gm) fractions of soils play a crucial role in determining their major physical and chemical properties, and inevitably, questions concerning the origin and formation of these minerals have assumed some prominence in soil science research. This review considers some important aspects of these questions and is confined to clay minerals...
